Pixeljam

Let us review the Einstein-Lorentz transformation equations which are based on the postulate of constancy of velocity of light for all inertial observers.

Or maybe not.

The site

Pixeljam is a study of, and a celebration of, the pixel.
Our rate of growth in this world doesn't leave us much time for us to fully explore the potential of each of our accomplishments before moving on to the next. Pixeljam takes a step back and further explores the potential of the pixel.

Secondly, this site is about spontaneous creation, energy and flow. It's about color and balance, time and space. The pixels serve as the vehicle.

At present, Pixeljam is fairly short. There is more on the way.

Pixels in pure form
The Pixeljam animations do not emulate pixel forms. Each large blocky pixel you see comes directly from the original single pixel of the Gif animations. Given, once the animation is expanded, more pixels have to come into play, but they act as the body of the original pixels.

How it works
The animations are VERY small. 8x8, 6x12, 12x12 and so on. Once they are complete, they are brought to an html document. The original width and height attributes are replaced with the new, greater dimensions. It's like looking through a microscope.

Pleasant surprises
Most of these animations are very small in file size. only 2 - 13K, so they take very little time to download.

the animations can contain many colors without much increase in file size.

Some of these animations are hundreds of frames long. The longest and most complex pixeljam animation I've created (so far) had over 300 frames. And still, that one was only 30K.

The problems we've encountered and solutions for them
problem:
Full screen (100% x 100%) animations don't work very well on some machines. Processor speed needs to be fast enough, Monitor refresh rate has to be fast enough, There has to be enough RAM on the machine and enough allocated to the browser, ect.

solution 1:
Re-size the browser window (make it much smaller). This shrinks the full screen animations to manageable image inflation sizes.

solution 2:
Visit the "small" version of this site.

problem:
Sometimes when re-sizing the browser window the animation disappears.

solution:
reload the page.

the uncontrollable:
Sometimes, especially on PC's, strange lines and shapes appear and disappear. These are not in the original animations. The act of expanding the animations beyond their original size does this.

I find these random occurrences interesting and think they add character. Nothing we can do about them, so we might as well enjoy their presence.

Anything else?
Yeah. This is version 1.0 of Pixeljam. Pixeljam is a work in progress.
